New Heart Mission Church is now offering the Prepare-Enrich program for premarital couples and married couples. This wonderful program is a customized couple assessment-inventory which is completed online by the couple seperately and together to help identify the couple's strong points and growth areas. The results are confidentially shared with a pastoral counselor, in our case, Pastor Paul Chung, and through feedback sessions the facilitator and couple discuss and explore the different areas of their relationship. The program has been taken by over 2.5 million couples (5,000,000 people) since 1980. The assessment-inventories have been utilized by over 75,000 trained clergy members, professional counselors, mentors, and marriage educators throughout the U.S. What is the point of the program? The goal of the Prepare/Enrich program is to build better relationship skills and develop stronger relationships. Specifically for New Heart Mission Church, it is our desire for couples to find ways to develop Christ-centered, Christian relationships in addition to the goals of Prepare/Enrich, which are to: * Explore strength and growth areas * Strengthen communication skills * Identify and manage major stressors * Resolve conflict using the Ten Step Model * Develop a more balanced relationship * Explore family of origin issues * Discuss financial planning and budgeting * Establish personal, couple and family goals * Understand and appreciate personality differences What does the customized couple assessment analyze? The assessment-inventories are made up 165 questions which assess relationship strength and growth areas for 15 categories. The Inventories are comprehensive, diagnostically valuable and designed to generate a meaningful dialogue between the counselor and the couple. The PREPARE/ENRICH Inventories have been scientifically developed to have high levels of reliability, validity and clinical utility. The assessment is made up of: * 12 Relationship Scales — communication, conflict resolution, roles, sexuality, finances, spiritual beliefs and more * 5 SCOPE Personality Scales * 4 Couple and Family Scales — based on the circumplex model * 4 Relationship Dynamic Scales * 30 Customized Scales There are several different types of assessment: * PREPARE -- premarital couples * PREPARE-CC -- cohabiting couples * PREPARE-MC -- premarital couples w/children * ENRICH -- for married couples * MATE -- for couples over the age of 50 Is the PREPARE/ENRICH Program valid & reliable? An important strength of the PREPARE/ENRICH Inventories is their strong psychometric properties. High levels of reliability and validity have been found for each instrument, making them valuable tools for research as well as clinical use. National Norms based on over 500,000 couples High Levels of Validity and Reliability: PREPARE has validity in that it discriminates premarital couples that get divorced from those that are happily married with about 80-85% accuracy.
